"Get Buzzed About Reading" the Crestwood Summer Reading Program 2008
What's the buzz at the Marian Sutherland Kirby Library? Children who have
completed first, second, third or fourth grade are invited to join Reading
Specialist, Denise Kaminsky for some summer reading fun.
The "Get Buzzed About Reading" program begins on Wednesday, July 9 from 1:00
to 2:30 and runs for six consecutive weeks. This program is sponsored by
the Crestwood School District in order to maintain and enhance the reading
skills of students over summer vacation.
Each week different insects will be investigated through great books and
activities:
July 9 - Backyard Safari - How many kinds of insects can we find?
July 18 - Bees, Butterflies & Moths - Identify and learn their habits.
July 23-Ants - Identifying insect parts and habits.
July 30 - Prehistoric bugs to the present - How long ago were there insects on
earth? How have insects survived?
August 6 - Beetles - The most common type of insect represented by many species.
August 13 - Mosquitoes and Flies - Explore the habits and folktales of these
pesky bugs!
Registration is required and is limited to 20 participants. Sign up begins
on June 16 and may be done by visiting the library at 35 Kirby Ave.,
Mountaintop or by calling 474-9313.
