What are Friends For?
The primary purpose of the Friends organization is to be of service to the library and to the community. Friends services include participating in activities and services which will stimulate interest in and benefit the library and its patrons, fundraising to supplement the library's budget, provide programs, and to promote the library and its services.
Friends help to encourage the growth and development of the library, provide program and financial support to strengthen its resources and services to the public and business communities. They improve community relations between the library and the private sector by improving awareness of our local library activities.
Friends activities include sponsoring book sales, craft sales, fudge sales, dog license sales every February, trips, public speakers and more. Fundraising efforts have provided the library with many necessary items such as a fax machine, printers, book cart, camera, New York Times subscription, and materials for the collection.
The Friends meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 in the community room of the Marian Sutherland Kirby Library. New members are always welcome!
